Drum Cave, also known as Con Trai Cave, is located in the heart of the Ha Long Bay UNESCO World Heritage Site. The cave lies on Bo Hon Island, and 500m away from the Trinh Nu Cave towards the northwest. Inside Drum Cave, there is a very tall stone column, which resembles a figure of a man looking out to the Trinh Nu Cave (Virgin Cave).

Drum Cave and Trinh Nu Cave is associated with the legend about a pitiful love story. Drum Cave has become a very familiar and favorite destination for domestic and foreign tourists due to its wonderful beauty that is given by the Creator. The cave's structure

Drum Cave has two wide gates, which are interconnected from East to West through two stone cliffs. Entering the cave from the East gate, tourists are taken back by the amazing silver-colored stalactites hanging from the ceiling. In the middle of the cave, an imposing vertical stone in the shape of a man looking out towards the Virgin Cave. Inside the cave, you can hear the wind blowing into the rock, echoing back to the cave wall, making rhythms of steady drumbeat.

Long time ago, a fisherman fell in love with a girl, however, he was too poor to marry her. The poor man decided to go fishing to get enough money for the wedding. During the time he was away, the girl was forced to marry another man who was rich and powerful. She rejected the engagement and was banished to a deserted island. Her lover heard about the bad news and set sail to the island to find her. When the man arrived at the island, there was a thunderstorm, his voice was drown in the howling wind and storm, he had to bang on the cliff with a stone to notify his lover, but the girl was so tired and desperate that she died and petrified. He tried until he was exhausted and gone forever, only the drumbeat remains as the faithful vow of love.

Inside the cave, visitors will admire the beauty of breathtakingly marvelous stalagmites and stalactites. Stepping further and you hear the wind blowing into the rock making sound like drum beats. Drum Cave is also an archaeological site which holds many evidences and fossils of Soi Nhu culture, dating from 18,000 to 7,000 years ago. The cave has high surrounding vertical stone cliffs and large interior space, which is suitable for organizing romantic dinner parties.
